Summer Sewing Camp- Session 1

BEGINNING SEWING
Beginning sewers will learn how to:
Operate the sewing machine
Cut out simple patterns
Understand sewing terms
Follow sewing instructions to create projects
Sew straight and curved seams
Hand sew a seam
Beginner projects:
Pillowcase
Drawstring bag
Circle pillow
Apron
Ruffled skirt or board shorts

INTERMEDIATE
Intermediate sewers will follow increasingly complex patterns to learn how to:
Read and follow a purchased pattern
Use a variety of machine stitches to finish seams to add decorative elements
Cut out and modify a pattern to fit
Install a zipper
Sew on a button
Set in a sleeve
Finish a hem

Intermediate-A Projects:
Lounge Pants
Zippered pouch

Intermediate -B Projects:
(must complete (A) or have equivalent experience):
Lined Market Tote Bag
PJ Top with applique

Intermediate-C Projects
(must complete (B) or have equivalent experience)
Zip front vest

ADVANCED
Circle Skirt with a zipper and button closure
T-shirt top with serged seams
or
Hoodie – Button Up Shirt
